Patricia (38), a Colombian refugee living in Montreal with her teenage son Camilo (16), struggles to move on from the disappearance of her husband, whom she still believes to be alive. Between the difficulty of integrating, the fear of deportation, and her disturbing visions of a previous life in Colombia, Patricia vacillates between past and present. Guided by the immigrant women around her, she must confront her grief and choose to invent a story to convince the judges to grant her asylum.
Óscar Ruiz Navia is a Colombian filmmaker, founder of Contravía Films, and a candidate for a Master's degree in Film at Concordia University(Canada, 2025). His work has been recognized at international festivals suchas the Berlinale, Cannes, Locarno, and Rotterdam.His films include El vuelco del cangrejo, Los hongos, Solecito, Epifanía, and Fait Vivir. He has also produced films such as La Sirga, Siembra, Selva Trágica, and Yo vi tres luces negras. He has taught in Colombia, Canada, and Cuba.
He is currently preparing for the premiere of his short film Ya se ven los tigres en la lluvia (NYFF 2025) and working on Duermevela.
