Paradise Directed by Alaa Eddine Aljem

As humanity sees its senses atrophied by a strange mutation, Nadir and Ahmed watch their lives pass them by in a dull city, finding no pleasure in anything. The discovery of a tree with yellow flowers could well change their destiny; its sap allows those who absorb it to increase their sensations tenfold. The two young men soon dream of becoming saviors, neglecting the potential side effects of their discovery.

Alaa Eddine Aljem is an Italian-Moroccan screenwriter and director born in 1988. He studied film at ESAVM and then at INSAS in Brussels, specializing in directing and screenwriting. Alaa has directed films that have been selected for numerous festivals around the world. In 2015, his short film The Desert Fish won the Grand Prix, the Critics' Prize, and the Screenplay Prize at the Moroccan National Film Festival. In 2016, Alaa was named one of the five Arab Stars of Tomorrow by Screen International magazine.

In 2019, Alaa released his first feature film, The Unknown Saint, a burlesque fable that premiered at Cannes Critics' Week and was acclaimed by French and international critics. The film was distributed in twenty countries and shortlisted for the Oscars in the Best Foreign Film category.
