Arde un Reino Directed by Catalina Arroyave Restrepo

 

Candelaria is a teenage girl of Catholic religion. At a girls' school run by nuns in Medellin, her beliefs are shaken when a young teacher arrives at her school and shows her the possibilities outside this religious environment.

Catalina Arroyave Restrepo is a writer-director. In 2020, she co-founded Rara Colectivo Audiovisual, a company managing cinematographic projects based in Medellin. Her first film, Los días de la ballena, presented at South by Southwest Film Festival in 2019, was selected in more than thirty international festivals, notably Bafici, Melbourne International Film Festival, Sao Paulo International Mostra de Cine, Seminci, Zurich Film Festival, Cartagena International Film Festival. The film received the audience award for Best First Film at Colfilm NY, the jury award of the Mérida and Yucatan international film festival and an honorable mention for the first film directed by women at South by Southwest. In 2021, the film was sold to HBO.

Catalina Arroyave Restrepo is currently developping her second feature film : Arde un Reino.
